During Your Appointment

Port Huron Ophthalmology is committed to provide quality care that satisfies the best interest of our patients. We strive to treat each patient with courtesy and respect. Our services range from evaluating for glasses and contacts, to diagnosing and treating eye disease, to cataract and refractive surgeries to help you achieve the best vision possible. We will try to make your appointments to meet your needs. When visiting our office please be sure to bring the following:

  • Your current glasses and/or contacts. If wearing contacts be sure to bring your back up glasses and contact lens case.
  • A list of your current medications. Please be sure to include all herbal and vitamin supplements and eye drops.
  • A complete medical history including any medical conditions past or present and any surgeries you have had. The dates of your surgeries are also helpful.
  • Health insurance information (cards)

If you are scheduled for a complete eye exam you will be given drops to dilate your eyes. This provides a clear view for the doctor to examine your eye. Most people do not have difficulties from these drops. Dilation blurs your near vision and will make you light sensitive. If you feel you may have trouble driving you may want to bring someone with you. Sunglasses will be helpful, if you have some be sure to bring them. A typical dilation can last approximately 6-8 hours. Eye drops are available to reverse the dilation more quickly and decrease your dilation time to approximately 2 hours. A typical complete eye exam will be approximately 1 ½ hours.

A technician will gather your medical history and perform some preliminary testing to have this information ready for Dr. Favero. If you have any specific eye problems you wish to have addressed please be sure to tell the technician. This will help facilitate any further testing to be done if necessary. Dr. Favero and his staff are dedicated to making your visit as pleasant as possible.
